3MP Kits: your questions answered
How many days of footage do kits in this range keep?
It comes down to three things: the size of the drive, how many cameras are recording and their resolution. As a rough guide, if just one camera is recording non-stop, every terabyte gives you around 46 days of 3MP footage or around 23 days of 4K footage. On a typical kit here, it's about 58 days. Each kit's card shows its own estimate — and if you only record when something moves, footage lasts longer.
Channels and cameras — what's the difference?
Think of channels as how many cameras the recorder will take, and cameras as the number you actually get. The recorders here have between 4 and 32 channels. With spare channels, you can add cameras later and keep the same recorder.
What's in the box?
A DVR plus matching cameras, checked to work together. Every kit here comes with a hard drive. Every part, with its model number, is listed on each kit's own page.
How much do kits in this range cost?
Prices for the in-stock kits here go from £142.33 to £4,482.05 including VAT. The figure on each card is what that kit costs.
3MP kits bundle a recorder, cameras and a hard drive so the pieces are matched from the start. This range is built around 16-channel Hikvision and HiLook systems that pair mostly 5MP cameras with one 3MP THC-B230-R bullet camera, and each kit comes with 12TB of recording storage.
What the range covers
- Camera count: kits run from 9 to 15 DS-2CE12KF3T 5MP cameras, plus the 3MP bullet.
- Camera style: DS-2CE12KF3T and DS-2CE17K0T 5MP cameras are the main options, and one kit uses DS-2CE70K0T 5MP turrets, the compact ball-shaped style.
- Recorder size: 16 channels means the recorder accepts up to 16 camera feeds.
How to choose
- Count your camera positions. Cover doors, side access, driveways and yards, then pick the kit that matches.
- Pick a body style. Bullet cameras are easy to spot and so act as a visible deterrent. Turrets are smaller and neater.
- Think about storage. Higher resolution and more cameras recording non-stop fill a drive sooner.
- Plan the cable runs. Measure the distance from each camera position back to the recorder before ordering.
3MP Kits — frequently asked questions
What hard drive capacity comes with these 16-channel kits?
The kits in this range ship with 12TB of recording storage. Retention time varies with resolution, frame rate and how many cameras record continuously.
Can I use fewer than 16 cameras on a 16-channel kit?
Yes. The recorder accepts up to 16 feeds, so a kit with fewer cameras leaves channels free for later additions.
What is the difference between a bullet and a turret camera?
A bullet is a cylindrical camera that is easy to see from a distance. A turret is a compact, ball-shaped camera with a lower profile.
Why do the kits mix 5MP and 3MP cameras?
Most kits use 5MP cameras for sharper detail, with a single THC-B230-R 3MP bullet camera included alongside them.
