Turbo HD Kits: your questions answered
How many days of footage do kits in this range keep?
It comes down to three things: the size of the drive, how many cameras are recording and their resolution. As a rough guide, if just one camera is recording non-stop, every terabyte gives you around 92 days of 2MP footage or around 23 days of 4K footage. On a typical kit here, it's about 57 days. Each kit's card shows its own estimate — and if you only record when something moves, footage lasts longer.
Channels and cameras — what's the difference?
Think of channels as how many cameras the recorder will take, and cameras as the number you actually get. The recorders here have between 4 and 32 channels. With spare channels, you can add cameras later and keep the same recorder.
What's in the box?
A DVR plus matching cameras, checked to work together. Every kit here comes with a hard drive. Every part, with its model number, is listed on each kit's own page.
How much do kits in this range cost?
Prices for the in-stock kits here go from £142.13 to £6,021.06 including VAT. The figure on each card is what that kit costs.
Turbo HD Kits: DVR, cameras and hard drive in one box
Turbo HD is Hikvision's coax-based HD CCTV standard (also used by Dahua and compatible brands), carried over standard analogue-style cable rather than network cable. A Turbo HD kit bundles a DVR recorder, a matched set of cameras and a hard drive, so there's no separate parts-picking involved.
This range covers 4-channel and 8-channel DVR kits, paired with cameras rated at 4MP, 5MP or 4K resolution, and hard drives from 4TB to 6TB depending on the kit.
How to choose
- Channel count: 4-channel DVRs suit two cameras with room to expand; 8-channel kits give more headroom for extra cameras later.
- Camera resolution: 4MP and 5MP cameras are common in this range; 4K cameras (such as the DS-2CE78U0T-LPTS or DS-2CE78U1T-IT3F) give sharper detail for identifying faces or number plates.
- Storage: kits ship with either 4TB or 6TB hard drives — larger drives hold more recorded footage before older files are overwritten.
- Power over coax (PoC): some kits, like those using Prolux PXC-612C4W-A-POC cameras, send power down the same coax cable as the video signal, cutting down on separate power cabling.
- Camera type: turret and bullet-style cameras both appear in this range, suited to different mounting positions indoors or outdoors.
Match the channel count to the cameras included, and check the resolution and storage suit how much detail and history you need.
Turbo HD Kits — frequently asked questions
What does a Turbo HD kit include?
Each kit bundles a DVR recorder, a set number of cameras, and a hard drive already sized for that kit — for example a Hikvision DS-7204HUHI-K1/P kit pairs a 4-channel DVR with two cameras and a 4TB HDD.
