16 Camera Kits: your questions answered
How many days of footage do kits in this range keep?
It comes down to three things: the size of the drive, how many cameras are recording and their resolution. As a rough guide, if 16 cameras are recording non-stop, every terabyte gives you around 5 days of 2MP footage or around 1 day of 4K footage. On a typical kit here, it's about 35 days. Each kit's card shows its own estimate — and if you only record when something moves, footage lasts longer.
Channels and cameras — what's the difference?
Think of channels as how many cameras the recorder will take, and cameras as the number you actually get. On the smallest recorders here every channel's in use, while the biggest can take 16 more cameras. With spare channels, you can add cameras later and keep the same recorder.
What's in the box?
A recorder (an NVR on IP kits or a DVR on Turbo HD ones) plus matching cameras, checked to work together. Every kit here comes with a hard drive. Every part, with its model number, is listed on each kit's own page.
How much do kits in this range cost?
Prices for the in-stock kits here go from £1,450.25 to £5,452.90 including VAT. The figure on each card is what that kit costs.
16 Camera Kits
A 16 camera kit pairs one recorder (NVR or DVR) with 16 cameras and a hard drive, giving whole-property coverage in a single purchase. This range covers both NVR kits (network cameras, often PoE — powered over the same cable as the data) and DVR kits (analogue-style cameras over coax), with resolutions from 2MP up to 5MP and hard drives from 5TB to 8TB.
How to choose
- NVR or DVR — NVR kits here use PoE cameras, so one cable per camera carries power and video; DVR kits need a separate power run.
- Resolution — kits in this range span 2MP, 4MP and 5MP cameras; higher resolution generally means sharper detail but larger recordings.
- Storage size — drives range from 5TB to 8TB across these kits; more storage generally means more days of footage retained before older recordings are overwritten.
- Recorder channel count — some kits pair 16 cameras with a 32-channel recorder, leaving room to add cameras later; others use a matched 16-channel recorder.
- Camera type — turret, dome and bullet styles appear across this range, each suited to different mounting spots.
Check the recorder model and camera model together, as they're matched as a set within each kit.
16 Camera Kits — frequently asked questions
What's the difference between an NVR kit and a DVR kit?
NVR kits in this range use PoE network cameras carrying power and data on one cable, while DVR kits use analogue-style cameras that need separate power leads.
How much hard drive storage do I need?
Kits in this range come with 5TB to 8TB drives; generally, more storage means more days of recordings kept before the oldest footage is overwritten.
Can I add more cameras later?
Some kits pair 16 cameras with a 32-channel recorder, which leaves spare channels for expansion; others use a matched 16-channel recorder with no spare capacity.
