7 Camera Kits: your questions answered
How many days of footage do kits in this range keep?
It comes down to three things: the size of the drive, how many cameras are recording and their resolution. As a rough guide, if 7 cameras are recording non-stop, every terabyte gives you around 13 days of 2MP footage or around 3 days of 4K footage. On a typical kit here, it's about 56 days. Each kit's card shows its own estimate — and if you only record when something moves, footage lasts longer.
Channels and cameras — what's the difference?
Think of channels as how many cameras the recorder will take, and cameras as the number you actually get. Every recorder here can take at least 1 extra camera. With spare channels, you can add cameras later and keep the same recorder.
What's in the box?
A recorder (an NVR on IP kits or a DVR on Turbo HD ones) plus matching cameras, checked to work together. Every kit here comes with a hard drive. Every part, with its model number, is listed on each kit's own page.
How much do kits in this range cost?
Prices for the in-stock kits here go from £836.63 to £2,515.08 including VAT. The figure on each card is what that kit costs.
7 Camera Kits: full-coverage systems for house or small site
A 7 camera kit gives enough coverage for most detached homes, yards, or small business perimeters — front, back, sides and one or two internal or PTZ views. This range spans over a thousand configurations, built around Hikvision and Longse recorders (NVR for network cameras, DVR for analogue/HD-TVI), with camera resolutions from 2MP through to 4K and pre-matched hard drive storage.
How to choose
- Recorder type: NVR kits (e.g. Hikvision DS-7732NI-M4/24P) use PoE network cameras, so power and data run over one cable; DVR kits (Hikvision DS-7332HQHI-K4, iDS-7332HUHI-M4/S) use coax and suit upgrading an existing analogue setup.
- Camera mix: most kits pair fixed bullet, turret or dome cameras for static coverage with one PTZ camera (like the DS-2DE4425IW-DE) that pans, tilts and zooms for watching a wider area on demand.
- Resolution: ranges from 2MP (DS-2AE5225TI-A-E) up to 4K bullets and turrets (DS-2CD2085G1-I, DS-2CD1383G2-LIU) — higher resolution helps with number plates and faces at distance but needs more storage.
- Storage: kits arrive with a hard drive already sized to the channel count and resolution, from 3TB up to 10TB, so check this matches how long you need footage retained.
7 Camera Kits — frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an NVR kit and a DVR kit?
NVR kits use network PoE cameras that send power and data over one cable, while DVR kits use coax-based analogue or HD-TVI cameras like those in the Hikvision DS-7332HQHI-K4 kits.
Do 7 camera kits include a hard drive?
Yes, every kit in this range comes with a hard drive already fitted, sized to the number of channels and camera resolution, ranging from 3TB up to 10TB across the range.
