How many days of footage do kits in this range keep?
It comes down to three things: the size of the drive, how many cameras are recording and their resolution. As a rough guide, if 4 cameras are recording non-stop, every terabyte gives you around 23 days of 2MP footage or around 5 days of 4K footage. On a typical kit here, it's about 57 days. Each kit's card shows its own estimate — and if you only record when something moves, footage lasts longer.
Channels and cameras — what's the difference?
Think of channels as how many cameras the recorder will take, and cameras as the number you actually get. On the smallest recorders here every channel's in use, while the biggest can take 28 more cameras. With spare channels, you can add cameras later and keep the same recorder.

4 Camera Kits: complete systems for a typical home or small shop
A 4 camera kit covers the common corners of most homes or small premises: front, back, side and one internal or entry view. This range includes both DVR kits (cameras connect by coaxial cable) and NVR kits (cameras connect by network cable, often with PoE — power and data on one lead).
Camera resolutions in this range run from 2MP up to 5MP, and hard drives from 4TB to 6TB, pre-matched to the recorder in each kit.
How to choose
- Recorder type: DVR kits pair with analogue-style HD cameras over coax; NVR kits use PoE cameras over network cable, which usually simplifies cabling to one run per camera.
- Channel count: recorders in this range go up to 16-channel, so a 4 camera kit can often be expanded later within the same box.
- Camera resolution: 2MP is standard-definition CCTV; 5MP gives sharper detail for number plates or faces at distance.
- Storage: kits ship with 4TB, 5TB or 6TB drives — larger drives generally hold more recorded history before older footage is overwritten.
