What this is

The Hikvision iDS-7332HUHI-M4/S is a 32-channel hybrid DVR built for sites with a lot of cameras — think multi-building premises, warehouses, or estates rather than a single-house install. It records HDTVI, AHD, CVI and CVBS analogue cameras, plus IP cameras (up to 12MP), and can take up to 64 network camera inputs in total. That means existing coax cabling doesn't need ripping out if a site is gradually moving to IP.

Recording and analytics

Recording tops out at 8MP at 8fps, or 5MP at 12fps, using H.265 Pro+ compression to keep file sizes manageable at higher resolutions. AcuSense with Motion Detection 2.0 runs on every analogue channel, classifying human and vehicle movement so alerts aren't constantly triggered by leaves or passing headlights. Line crossing and intrusion detection (perimeter alerts) are available on selected channels for gate or boundary monitoring.

Storage — check before buying

There are 4 SATA interfaces, each supporting drives up to 12TB, plus eSATA for expansion, and RAID support for data redundancy — important if losing footage isn't an option. Note this listing does not include a hard drive, so factor that into your build. Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports add network throughput and a backup path for remote access.

Display and other features

Two HDMI outputs are provided, one running at 4K with independent display, useful for a dedicated monitoring wall. POS-triggered recording with information overlay is also supported, handy for retail tills.
