Hikvision 32-ch 5MP1U H.265 AcuSense DVR

The Hikvision iDS-7232HQHI-M2/XT is a 32-channel hybrid DVR built for sites running a lot of cameras — think multi-unit commercial premises rather than a single house.

It takes five signal types (HDTVI, AHD, CVI, CVBS or IP), so you're not locked into one camera brand or cable standard. Up to 40 IP camera inputs are supported too, each up to 6MP, which matters if you're planning to expand with newer network cameras later rather than replace the whole system.

What the AcuSense side actually does

AcuSense is Hikvision's deep-learning detection layer, built in rather than bolted on. Practically:

• Facial recognition on up to 4 channels
• Perimeter protection (line crossing, intrusion) on up to 16 channels using the advanced model
• AcuSearch across all 32 channels, letting you search recorded footage by human/vehicle event instead of scrubbing through hours of motion clips

Storage and outputs — check before you buy

• Two SATA bays, each accepting up to 12TB, so 24TB total — plan your retention period around channel count and resolution
• Recording up to 5MP Lite using H.265 Pro+ compression, which keeps file sizes down without a corresponding jump in drive size
• HDMI output up to 4K, VGA up to Full HD, for local monitor setups
• Gigabit Ethernet plus Hik-Connect and ONVIF support for remote viewing and third-party platform integration

Two-way audio and motion detection work across all channels, and an RS-485 port handles PTZ camera control.
