The Hikvision iDS-7208HUHI-M1/E is an 8-channel 1U DVR that records analogue HD cameras and adds network cameras for a mixed-camera setup. It's built for anyone extending an existing analogue system or migrating gradually to IP without scrapping working kit.
What it actually does
It accepts HDTVI, AHD, CVI and CVBS inputs across its 8 analogue channels, plus IP cameras — up to 16 network cameras can be connected. This means you can keep older analogue cameras running while adding newer IP ones on the same recorder.
Recording tops out at 8MP at 8fps or 5MP at 12fps, using H.265 Pro+ compression to keep file sizes down without a visible quality hit — useful if you're recording continuously rather than on motion only.
Smarter motion alerts
AcuSense Motion Detection 2.0 uses deep learning to tell the difference between a person, a vehicle, and everything else — so a moving tree or passing headlights won't trigger a false alert. Line crossing and intrusion detection add perimeter-style monitoring on top.
