What this DVR actually does
This is an 8-channel hybrid recorder for a mixed or growing CCTV setup: it takes analogue cameras (HDTVI, AHD, CVI, CVBS) on its 8 main channels and, separately, up to 16 IP cameras at up to 8MP each, so you're not locked into one camera type.
It records at up to 8MP at 8fps or 5MP at 12fps, using H.265 Pro+ compression to keep file sizes down — useful if you're trying to stretch storage across a busy site. One SATA bay takes a drive up to 12TB, and you can add network storage (NAS or iSCSI) if you outgrow that.
AcuSense and analytics
AcuSense is Hikvision's deep-learning motion filter — it tells people and vehicles apart from blowing leaves, cats and headlight glare, so you get fewer pointless alerts. On this model you choose either facial recognition on up to 4 channels or the more advanced perimeter protection mode on up to 8 channels — not both together.
