The Hikvision 1.5U 24 PoE 8K NVR – 32-ch DS-7732NI-M4/24P records up to 32 IP cameras, and 24 of them can be powered by the recorder itself. PoE (Power over Ethernet) means one network cable carries both power and video, so those 24 cameras need no separate PoE switch.
What to check before buying
- Camera count: 24 built-in PoE ports. Any cameras on the other channels need their own power source or a switch.
- Bandwidth: 320 Mbps incoming and 400 Mbps outgoing. Mbps is megabits per second; add up the bitrates of your cameras to see how much of the 320 Mbps you will use.
- Resolution: IP cameras up to 32MP. Decoding capacity is 32-ch@1080p.
- Storage: four SATA interfaces, each taking a drive of up to 16TB. Extra capacity comes from eSATA, NAS or iSCSI network storage. H.265+ compression (alongside H.265, H.264+ and H.264) reduces the space each camera needs.
- Night vision: this comes from the cameras you connect, so choose them for the lighting at your site.
Screens and control
For monitors, there are two HDMI ports: one reaches 8K and can work as a separate, independent output. VGA and CVBS outputs add further display compatibility. Two RS-485 interfaces handle PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera control. USB ports cover backup and peripherals, and up to 8 IP speakers can be connected.
The unit is 1.5U high. The same recorder also appears under the codes DS-7732NI-M4/24P-NO-HDD and DS-7732NI-M4/24P+NO-HDD.
