Hikvision 8-ch PoE 1U K Series AcuSense 4K NVR

A recorder that also powers the cameras saves a lot of cabling hassle. The Hikvision 8-ch PoE NVR with AcuSense AI (DS-7608NXI-K1/8P) is a 1U unit with 8 PoE ports. PoE is power over Ethernet, so one network cable carries both power and video to each IP camera. Maximum incoming bandwidth is 80 Mbps.

Check before you buy

• Cameras: up to 8 IP cameras. ONVIF (profile S/G), SDK and ISAPI are supported, so look for those on any non-Hikvision camera.
• Recording: up to 12 MP, in H.265+, H.265, H.264+ or H.264. The H.265 family generally needs less disk space for the same picture.
• Storage: an NVR records to a hard drive, so size one to your camera count and days of footage wanted.
• Remote access: up to 128 remote connections. Compatible browsers: IE11, Chrome V57, Firefox V52 and Safari.
• Night footage: picture quality after dark comes from the cameras, so judge it on their specification.

Smarter alerts

AcuSense analyses video for people and vehicles to cut false alarms. Camera-side analytics (perimeter protection, motion detection 2.0, throwing objects from building, ANPR, VCA) cover all channels. On the recorder itself, perimeter protection runs on 1 channel at 4 MP.

Facial recognition covers face picture comparison, human face capture and face picture search. Detection and analytics run on 1 channel at 8 MP; picture comparison on 4 channels. The library holds up to 16 face picture libraries and 20,000 pictures in total (each ≤ 4 MB, total ≤ 1 GB).

Display, playback and audio

HDMI reaches 4K (3840 × 2160) at 30 Hz; VGA reaches 1920 × 1080 at 60 Hz. Both can run together or independently. Playback covers 8 channels at once.

Decoding at 30 fps: with AI off, 8-ch@1080p, 4-ch@4 MP, 2-ch@8 MP or 1-ch@12 MP. With AI on, 6-ch@1080p, 3-ch@4 MP, 1-ch@8 MP or 1-ch@12 MP. Audio is 1-ch RCA output plus 1-ch RCA two-way audio, compressed as G.711ulaw, G.711alaw, G.722, G.726 or AAC.
