Product Description
The Hikvision DS-2AE5225TI-A-E is a 2MP PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) speed dome camera: one unit that swivels to cover a wide area and zooms in to check detail, instead of fitting several fixed cameras.
What it actually does
It records Full HD 1080p via a 1/2.8" progressive scan CMOS sensor. The 25× optical zoom (4.8–120 mm motorised lens) lets you pull in on a distant gate or number plate without losing clarity, and a 16× digital zoom adds further reach for closer inspection, at the cost of some image quality since digital zoom just enlarges the picture rather than capturing more detail.
It moves through a full 360° continuous pan with a wide tilt range, and supports preset positions, patrol paths and pattern scanning — useful if you want the camera to sweep a car park or perimeter on a schedule rather than sit fixed.
Night and image handling
Smart IR gives night vision up to 150 m, so it's built for genuinely large, dark sites rather than a back garden. 120 dB True WDR (wide dynamic range) and 3D DNR (digital noise reduction) help keep footage usable against strong backlight or in grainy low-light conditions.
Checking compatibility
It outputs over HD-TVI or CVBS via BNC, so check your recorder supports one of these before buying — it will work with a Turbo HD DVR or a standard analogue setup, but not directly with an IP/NVR system without conversion.
The housing is rated IP66 weather-resistant, suitable for outdoor mounting on perimeters, car parks or warehouse sites.
