The DS-2AE4225T-A is a 2 MP HD-TVI speed dome with 25x optical zoom, built to watch large sites and pick out detail at distance. It's an analogue camera (HD-TVI, meaning high-definition video sent over standard coaxial cable), so it's a natural fit for upgrading an existing analogue system without rewiring for network cable.
What it actually does
- 25x optical zoom (4.8mm–120mm focal range) — zoom in on a distant gate, number plate or doorway without losing detail, useful for car parks, warehouses and open perimeters.
- Pan/tilt control — the dome physically moves to cover multiple zones from one camera, operated remotely through a compatible Hikvision HD-TVI DVR.
- 120 dB WDR (wide dynamic range) — keeps footage usable when there's strong backlighting, such as a subject against a bright sky or window.
- Powered-by-DarkFighter low-light imaging plus Smart IR — colour by day, clear monochrome by night, with infrared output that avoids blowing out close subjects.

Before you buy
This is a PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) analogue camera, not IP — it needs a compatible Hikvision HD-TVI DVR to unlock remote pan/tilt/zoom control, not just any recorder. Check your existing DVR supports HD-TVI PTZ before ordering, and run a proper power supply, since IR illumination draws more current at night and a weak or long cable run can cause flickering or dropout.
