What it does
The DS-2CD2387G2H-LISU/SL is an 8MP turret camera that records full colour, day and night, and can flash a strobe and sound an alarm when it spots a person or vehicle. It's built for a single entrance, driveway or yard approach rather than a wide open compound.
Why the colour-at-night matters
Standard IR cameras switch to black-and-white after dark. This one uses ColorVu with Smart Hybrid Light — infrared and white light working together, switching automatically — to keep colour footage at night, with an effective range of up to 30 metres. Hikvision quotes minimum illumination as low as 0.0008 lux, which is why colour holds up even in near-darkness.
Field of view and detail
The fixed 2.8mm lens (not zoomable) gives a wide 108.8° horizontal view, so one camera can cover an entrance or yard approach without a second unit. The 1/1.8" sensor at 3840 × 2160 resolution is sharp enough to help identify faces and number plates at reasonable range.
Deterrence and detection
Deep learning tells people apart from vehicles, supports line-crossing and intrusion alerts, and can trigger a flashing strobe plus audible warning — a visible response, not just silent recording. Built-in microphone and speaker allow two-way audio.
Storage and power
It records onboard to a microSD card up to 512GB, with H.265+ compression to keep file sizes down, and is powered over PoE (IEEE 802.3af) or 12V DC. The housing is IP67-rated metal, rated for outdoor use.
