What it does: the DS-2CD2T87G2H-LISU/SL is an 8MP bullet camera that produces full-colour footage at night, not just black-and-white, and can flash a strobe and sound an alarm if it spots a person or vehicle.
Why the colour night image works
It uses a 1/1.8" sensor recording at 3840 × 2160 (8MP), paired with Hikvision's Smart Hybrid Light — infrared and white light working together, with an effective range up to 60 metres. ColorVu keeps colour visible down to 0.0005 lux, which is near-total darkness, so number plates and clothing colour stay identifiable rather than washing out to grey.
Coverage and detection
The fixed 2.8mm F1.0 lens gives a 105.1° horizontal field of view — wide enough for a single camera to cover a gate, loading bay or driveway without a second unit. Onboard AcuSense analytics use deep learning to tell people and vehicles apart from moving branches or cats, and support line crossing, intrusion, and region entry/exit rules — useful for perimeter alerts that don't spam you with false triggers.
Deterrence and audio
If an event fires, the camera can run its built-in strobe and audible alarm, and the integrated microphone/speaker let you talk through the camera to whoever's there.
Storage and build
Records to a microSD card up to 512GB on its own, or to an NVR/NAS over the network. H.265+ compression keeps file sizes down. The housing is IP67-rated metal, and it's powered over a single PoE cable, so no separate power run is needed.
