Hikvision DS-7216HGHI-M1: a hybrid DVR that bridges old and new cameras
If you've got existing coax cabling and want to add a few IP cameras without rewiring the building, this is the recorder to check first. It's a 16-channel 1U DVR that reads HDTVI, AHD, CVI, CVBS and IP signals on the same unit, so cameras bought years apart can share one system.
Why the input mix matters
Most hybrid DVRs force a choice between analogue and network cameras. This one doesn't: it takes 16 analogue channels plus IP cameras on top, up to 18 channels total in hybrid mode, with IP inputs supporting resolutions up to 5MP — handy for a couple of sharper cameras over a doorway or till point while the rest of the site stays on standard coax.
