Product Description
What it does
The Hikvision DS-2CD2085G1-I is an 8MP PoE bullet camera built for detailed footage in mixed light. 8MP (3840 × 2160) resolution means you can crop into a scene — a numberplate, a face — and still get a usable image, far beyond standard 2MP/1080p cameras.
Where it fits
The fixed 2.8mm lens gives roughly a 102° horizontal field of view, so it suits entrances, driveways, car parks and building exteriors where you want wide coverage from one fixed point rather than a narrow zoomed-in view.
Low light and contrast
Hikvision's DarkFighter low-light processing keeps footage usable in near-dark conditions, backed by IR night vision to 30 metres. 120dB true WDR (wide dynamic range — balancing bright and dark areas in the same shot) stops entrances from washing out against bright sky or headlights.
Power and install
It runs over PoE (IEEE 802.3af), so one Ethernet cable carries both power and video — no separate mains run needed — or you can power it via 12V DC where PoE isn't available.
Housing and compatibility
The housing is IP67-rated, meaning it's sealed against dust and against water jets/immersion to a specified depth — genuinely built for outdoor mounting. It works with Hikvision NVRs and other ONVIF-compatible recording systems, and uses H.265+ compression to keep file sizes and storage needs down.
Check your NVR has a free PoE port (or budget for a PoE switch/injector) before ordering, since this camera draws power over the network cable.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far does the night vision reach?
Hikvision states IR night vision up to 30 metres, using DarkFighter low-light technology for usable footage in near-dark conditions.
Does this camera need a separate power supply?
No — it supports Power over Ethernet (PoE IEEE 802.3af), so one Ethernet cable carries both power and data; 12V DC is also supported as an alternative.
Is it suitable for outdoor mounting?
Yes, the housing is IP67-rated, meaning it's sealed against dust and against water ingress, and it's built in a metal bullet enclosure.
Will it work with my existing NVR?
It's designed to integrate with Hikvision NVR systems and any ONVIF-compatible video management platform.
