8-channel NVRs and DVRs
This range covers 8-channel recorders — the hub that stores footage from up to eight cameras. It includes both PoE NVRs (for IP cameras, powered over the same network cable) and hybrid DVRs (accepting BNC analogue cameras, with some IP channels too).
Models here include Hikvision, HiLook, ANNKE, Dahua, Longse and Prolux units. Not all are PoE NVRs — the range also includes DVRs such as the Hikvision 8-ch 8 MP 1U H.265 DVR, which records over BNC connections rather than network PoE ports.
How to choose
- Camera type first: IP cameras need an NVR (several Hikvision, HiLook and Longse models here have 8 built-in PoE ports); existing BNC/analogue cameras need a hybrid DVR.
- Mixed systems: the two ANNKE hybrid recorders explicitly support up to 8 BNC cameras plus extra IP channels (2 or 4, depending on model) — useful if you're combining old and new cameras.
- Resolution: options range from 4K/8MP recorders up to an 8K NVR, so match the recorder's supported resolution to your cameras' output.
- Smart detection: several models offer AcuSense or human/vehicle detection, which filters alerts so you're not notified by every moving leaf.
- Storage: check maximum drive capacity supported — the Longse model, for example, is rated up to 8TB.
Always confirm your cameras' connection type (IP/PoE vs BNC analogue) before ordering.
8CH — frequently asked questions
What's the difference between an NVR and a DVR in this range?
An NVR records IP cameras over network cabling (often with built-in PoE ports), while a DVR records analogue cameras over BNC cabling; some models here are hybrid DVRs that accept both.
Can I mix analogue and IP cameras with an 8-channel recorder?
Yes, with a hybrid DVR — the two ANNKE models in this range specifically support up to 8 BNC cameras alongside a few extra IP channels.
