32-channel DVRs and NVRs

This range covers 32-channel recorders for larger CCTV installations — enough inputs for a full house, yard, and outbuildings, or a small commercial site. There are three product types here: 8K/PoE NVRs, and 5MP/8MP AcuSense DVRs.

The key distinction is NVR vs DVR:

• NVR (Network Video Recorder) — works with IP cameras, which send both power and video over one network cable if the recorder has PoE (Power over Ethernet) ports built in. The Hikvision 32-ch 1.5U 24 PoE 8K NVR and the Hikvision DS-7732NI-M4 32CH 8K NVR are both in this family.
• DVR (Digital Video Recorder) — works with traditional analogue-style cameras over coaxial cable. The 5MP, 8MP AcuSense, and 5MP1U models fall into this group.

How to choose

• Camera type already owned or planned — IP cameras need an NVR with enough PoE ports; analogue cameras need a matching DVR.
• Resolution support — check the recorder handles your cameras' megapixel rating (5MP and 8MP options are both listed here).
• AcuSense — Hikvision's on-recorder analytics that filter out irrelevant motion (branches, headlights) to flag people and vehicles more reliably.
• Case size and drive bays — confirm the physical format and how many hard drives it takes before ordering, as this isn't the same across every model.
