A single Cat5e or Cat6 network cable can carry your HDMI signal up to 30 metres (100ft) — useful when a source and screen are too far apart for a standard HDMI lead to reach reliably.
The kit is a transmitter and receiver pair: the transmitter sits next to your source (DVR, NVR, PC, Sky box, games console or similar), the receiver sits next to the TV or monitor, and one Ethernet cable runs between them. It's plug-and-play — no software, no drivers, and no network switch involved, so it isn't routed through your LAN.
