This kit sends an HDMI picture up to 30 metres down a single length of Cat5e or Cat6 network cable — useful when your DVR or NVR sits nowhere near the monitor.
What it does
A transmitter (TX) plugs into your HDMI source — DVR, NVR, media player or PC — and a receiver (RX) plugs into the display, whether that's an HDTV, monitor or projector. Both units connect via standard RJ45 LAN ports, so you run one network cable instead of a bulky HDMI lead.
Why CCTV installers use this
In a CCTV setup the recorder is often in a cupboard or rack, away from the screen you actually watch. Running Cat5e/Cat6 is cheaper and easier to route through walls and ceilings than long-run HDMI, and it keeps Full HD 1080P video and audio in sync at the far end.
