Product Description
A video balun is the small box that lets you send CCTV video over ordinary network cable instead of coax — this Prolux push-in balun does that job for HD-TVI, AHD, CVI and standard analog signals, up to 1080p.
What it's actually for
If you've already got Cat5e or Cat6 cable run through a building — from an old network install, say — you can use it to carry your camera signal instead of pulling new coax. You need one balun at the camera end and one at the DVR end to complete the link.
How it connects
- Push-in terminals for the twisted-pair (Cat5e/Cat6) side — no crimping tool needed, just strip and push
- BNC connector for the camera or DVR side
- Passive design — it doesn't need its own power supply, so there's nothing extra to wire in or fault-find later
Before you buy
Check your camera or DVR actually outputs HD-TVI, AHD, CVI or analog — this balun won't help with an IP/network camera, since that's a different type of signal entirely. Also confirm you're using Cat5e or Cat6 cable, as that's what it's designed for.
Good for long cable runs where coax isn't practical — offices, retail units, warehouses, or a home with existing network cabling in the walls.
