Product Description
A passive video balun turns a length of Cat5e or Cat6 network cable into a substitute for coax, carrying camera video to your DVR without needing power at either end.
What it actually does
You fit one balun at the camera and one at the DVR, connecting each via the BNC male connector. Between them, the video signal travels over twisted-pair cable instead of coax — handy if you've already got network cable in the wall, or if you'd rather pull a slimmer cable run.
Formats and resolution
It supports HD-TVI, AHD, CVI and standard analog, and is rated for resolutions up to 8MP (4K). Before ordering, check what your DVR's inputs are actually set to expect — a balun rated to 8MP won't help if the recorder channel is capped lower.
Wiring in
The twisted-pair side terminates on a screw terminal block, so you connect the Cat5e/Cat6 cores directly without needing a crimp tool or a specific connector type. That makes it quick to terminate on site, whether you're a professional installer or doing your own install.
