Product Description
A passive video balun pair lets you send CCTV signal over Cat5e or Cat6 cable instead of coax — handy if structured cabling is already in the walls, or if a coax run would be impractically long.
How it works
Each pair has a BNC connector on one end for the camera or DVR, and a UTP terminal on the other for the twisted-pair cable. The design is passive, meaning no external power is needed at either end — nothing to plug in, nothing to fail if a power supply dies.
Format compatibility
It supports HD-CVI, HD-TVI, AHD and analogue CCTV signals, with 8MP resolution stated for this model. That covers most HD-over-coax cameras, so the same pair can usually work across mixed-format sites without needing to match balun to camera brand.
Where it's used
- Running video over Cat5e/Cat6 where that cabling already exists, avoiding a new coax pull
- Long cable runs where structured cabling is more practical than standard coax
- Commercial, residential and industrial CCTV installs
Before you buy
Check that your camera and DVR use one of the four supported formats above, and that your existing Cat5e/Cat6 cable run is in good condition — the balun converts the signal, but it won't fix a damaged cable.
