Product Description
This is a female 5.5x2.1mm DC barrel pigtail with 15cm of red/black polarity-coded lead, used to extend or terminate power wiring on CCTV DC power runs.
What it's for
The barrel end mates with the DC input found on many analogue, TVI/AHD/CVI and IP cameras taking power from a central PSU. The other end is bare wire, ready to join into your own cabling.
Key specs
- Connector: 5.5mm outer diameter x 2.1mm inner diameter female barrel, 11mm plug length
- Lead: 15cm, red = positive, black = negative, 18-22AWG
- Rating: 12-24VDC, 1-2A continuous
- Compatibility: analogue, TVI/AHD/CVI and IP cameras drawing DC power from a central PSU
Wiring it in
Because the leads are pre-stripped, you can crimp, solder or use connector blocks to join them into a longer run — useful when extending from a rack-mounted power supply to a camera's junction box or a balun, or when wiring into a parallel/siamese-cable power distribution setup. The red/black colour coding means you don't have to guess polarity when making the join, which matters because getting positive and negative reversed can damage a camera.
Before you buy
Check your camera's DC jack is the 5.5x2.1mm size and that its voltage falls within 12-24VDC before ordering — this pigtail won't help if your camera uses a different connector size or a fixed 12V-only PSU spec you're unsure about.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size DC connector is this?
It's a 5.5mm outer diameter x 2.1mm inner diameter female barrel connector, 11mm plug length.
How do I know which wire is positive?
The red lead is positive and the black lead is negative, so polarity is marked for you when wiring or soldering.
What voltage and current can it handle?
It's rated for 12-24VDC at 1-2A continuous, which covers analogue, TVI/AHD/CVI and IP cameras run from a central PSU.
Can I use this to extend camera power cabling?
Yes, the pre-stripped leads are designed for crimping or soldering into longer runs, such as joining a PSU output to a camera junction box or balun.
