Product Description
The Raspberry Pi 5 Official 27W USB-C Power Supply is the mains adapter made for the Raspberry Pi 5, a single-board computer (a whole computer on one small circuit board). It delivers 5.1V at 5A, 27W in total, through a USB-C connector.
Why the wattage matters
With this supply, the power available to the Pi 5's USB ports rises to a nominal 1600mA, up from a default limit of 600mA. That is the figure to look at if you plan to attach external drives, cameras or network adapters. Under-powered kit is also a known cause of flicker or black screens on CCTV cameras at night, so power is worth ruling out early.
Key specs
- Brand and model: Raspberry Pi, RASPBERRY-Pi-5-PSU-USB-C-BLACK-EU (black)
- Main output: 5.1V / 5A, 27W total
- Other USB PD modes: 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/2.25A, 15V/1.8A (PD is Power Delivery, where the supply and device agree on a voltage)
- Cable: 1.2m, 18 AWG, captive (permanently attached)
- Input: 100V to 240V AC, 50/60Hz
- Protection: overcurrent, overvoltage and short circuit
Check before buying
This version has an EU plug. UK three-pin sockets will need a plug adaptor. Because the cable is captive, you can't swap it for a longer one.
It is also suited to other USB-C powered single-board computers and embedded systems that need stable, high-current 5V input.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much power does this supply deliver to the Raspberry Pi 5?
It delivers 5.1V at 5A, 27W in total. This raises the nominal USB port power budget to 1600mA, from a default of 600mA.
Can I use it in the UK?
It has an EU plug, so UK sockets will need a plug adaptor. The input range is 100V to 240V AC at 50/60Hz.
Is the cable detachable?
No. It is a 1.2m, 18 AWG captive cable, meaning it is permanently attached to the supply.
Does it have any other power modes?
Yes. Besides 5.1V/5A, it offers PD modes of 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/2.25A and 15V/1.8A.
