What it does
The BU240 is a single 12V DC power supply that feeds up to 16 CCTV cameras from one box, instead of wiring sixteen separate plug adapters around a site. It takes 100–240V AC mains and regulates it down to 12V DC, delivering 20A total output shared across the 16 channels.
Why the fusing matters
Each of the 16 outputs is individually fused. If one camera or cable develops a fault, that channel's fuse isolates it — the other 15 cameras keep running, and you can spot the tripped channel quickly via the LED status indicators rather than testing every run.
Backup power
A built-in charging circuit supports a 12V sealed lead-acid backup battery. If mains power fails, the unit switches to battery automatically, so cameras stay live through the outage rather than going dark — worth having on any installation where gaps in recording aren't acceptable.
Fitting it in
It's built into a lockable metal enclosure for wall mounting, with internal terminal blocks for organised camera and battery wiring — suited to a comms cupboard, plant room or security cabinet rather than an open shelf. It's designed for analog, HD-TVI, AHD and CVI 12V camera systems needing centralised power with backup.
