Product Description
The ProLux PXD-5208AN-4KL-X/8P is an 8-channel hybrid DVR that records analogue and IP cameras on the same unit, so you're not locked into one camera type.
What it actually does
It accepts HDCVI, HDTVI, AHD and CVBS analogue cameras plus IP cameras in hybrid mode, which matters if you're upgrading an older analogue system without ripping out existing cabling. IP camera inputs go up to 12/24 channels, each supporting resolution up to 8MP, with incoming bandwidth of 48Mbps (96Mbps in expanded mode).
PoC — power and video on one cable
Built-in PoC (Power over Coax) means compatible cameras get power and video down a single coax lead, cutting out a separate power run to each camera. This unit supports 8/16 channels of Lite series PoC cameras, or 4/8 channels of Pro series PoC cameras — check which series your cameras belong to before assuming full channel count, since the two aren't interchangeable at the same channel density.
Storage and compression
H.265+ and H.265 dual-stream compression (a video encoding standard that shrinks file sizes without losing much detail) means longer recording times on the same hard drive, or smaller network bandwidth if you're streaming remotely.
Monitoring
HDMI and VGA outputs cover local monitor setups, and the recorder supports remote viewing over the network for checking footage away from site.
Smart Search and the Intelligent Video System speed up finding relevant events in playback rather than scrubbing through hours of footage manually.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I mix analogue and IP cameras on this recorder?
Yes — it's a hybrid DVR supporting HDCVI, HDTVI, AHD and CVBS analogue cameras alongside IP cameras in hybrid mode.
What does PoC mean and does this DVR support it?
PoC (Power over Coax) sends power and video down one coaxial cable; this unit supports 8/16 channels of Lite series PoC cameras or 4/8 channels of Pro series PoC cameras.
What's the maximum camera resolution supported?
IP camera inputs are supported up to 8MP per channel.
Why does H.265+ compression matter for storage?
H.265+ and H.265 dual-stream compression reduce file sizes, meaning more recording time fits on the same hard drive and less network bandwidth is used for remote viewing.
