A tracker does a different job from a camera. It doesn't record what happened; it reports where something is. The Mini GPS Tracker with Magnetic Mount for Cars (SKU GPS-GF-07) is a black plastic unit measuring 40 x 23 x 16 mm, aimed at cars, bikes, valuables and people you need to keep track of.
Before you buy
- Mobile network: it works over GSM/GPRS, two mobile-network standards. Trackers of this type generally rely on a SIM card with data, so sort that out first.
- Storage: there is a slot for a Mini TF card (a small memory card). The card is not included.
- Mounting: the mount is magnetic, so choose a spot where a magnet will grip.
- Climate: it operates from -20°C to +55°C and can be stored from -40°C to +85°C.

The built-in battery is a 3.7 V 400 mAh Li-ion cell, and the working voltage is 3.4 – 4.2 V DC. Charging uses a supply taking AC 110-220 V, 50/60 Hz and giving DC 5 V, 300 – 500 mA.
Expect a 25-second locating time, which is how long it needs to find its position. Current draw is about 150 mA in talking mode and about 30 mA with voice control switched on.
Small enough to tuck out of sight, it suits company vehicles, personal security or keeping an eye on a bike.
