What this DVR actually does
The iDS-7216HQHI-M1/S is a 16-channel recorder that takes footage from your cameras and stores it on a hard drive, with a 4K HDMI output for viewing on a modern TV or monitor.
It's a hybrid recorder: the 16 BNC inputs accept HDTVI cameras (up to 5MP Lite — a lower-bitrate 5MP mode), plus AHD, CVI and CVBS (standard analogue) cameras on the same ports. So if you're mixing camera brands or upgrading an older analogue system gradually, you're not locked out. It also supports up to 18 IP cameras (up to 6MP each) for a combined analogue-plus-network setup.
AcuSense is Hikvision's smarter motion detection — it tells the difference between a person, a vehicle, and everything else (leaves, headlight glare, cats), so you get fewer pointless alerts.
