Product Description
What the DS-2DE4A425IW-DE actually does
One camera, whole car park or perimeter covered — this Hikvision PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom, meaning the head physically moves and zooms) pans a full 360° continuously and tilts from -5° to 90°, so it can sweep large open sites without a blind spot at the turn.
Getting detail at distance
The 25× optical zoom (4.8–120 mm motorised lens) plus 16× digital zoom is what separates a PTZ from a fixed camera: instead of installing several static cameras to cover different zones, one head can hold a wide view and then zoom into a gate, vehicle or fence line on demand. The 4 MP sensor (1/2.8″ progressive scan CMOS) supports resolutions up to 2560 × 1440, so zoomed-in footage still holds up.
Night and difficult light
Built-in infrared gives usable night vision to 50 m, and 120 dB WDR (wide dynamic range) helps the image cope with harsh contrasts — a bright entrance light against a dark yard, for instance. If a PTZ camera flickers or loses the image at night, it's usually the power supply struggling under the extra draw of IR LEDs, so check the adapter rating and cable run length before assuming a fault.
Power and fit
It accepts PoE+ or 12V DC, and H.265+/H.265/H.264+ compression keeps recordings compact — worth checking your recorder or NVR supports these before buying. The IP66 housing is built for continuous outdoor use, making this suited to perimeters, warehouses, transport hubs and public squares rather than small domestic setups.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far can this camera see clearly at night?
Its infrared illumination gives usable night vision up to 50 metres; beyond that, image quality will fall off.
Does it need PoE, or can it run on a standard power supply?
It supports both PoE+ (power over the network cable) and 12V DC, so you can choose whichever suits your existing cabling.
Will my recorder support the video compression this camera uses?
It records in H.265+, H.265 or H.264+, so it's worth confirming your NVR supports at least one of these before buying.
My PTZ camera flickers or loses the picture at night — why?
This is commonly caused by an unstable power supply, since IR LEDs draw more current at night; check your adapter rating and cable length first.
