The Dahua ASR1200D (DHI-ASR1200D) is a slim RFID card reader for controlling a door, gate or barrier. It's IP65-rated, meaning it's sealed against dust and water jets, so it's suited to exterior doors, gates and other spots exposed to rain.
What it reads
It reads 13.56MHz Mifare cards and 125KHz EM-ID cards, covering the two most common card types used in UK access systems. A red, blue and green LED plus a built-in buzzer give clear feedback at the door when a card is presented.
Wiring and compatibility
Before buying, check what your access control panel expects:
- RS485 wiring, or
- Wiegand, in either 34-bit or 26-bit format (Wiegand 34 is the default setting)
A panel that only takes Wiegand 26 or 34 will work here; anything else needs checking with your installer.
Installation and reliability
It can be surface-mounted or flush-mounted (recessed into the wall or frame), so it fits both a straightforward face-fix job and a neater flush finish where the frame allows it. A watchdog function is built in to stop the reader from freezing or halting, which matters for a device that needs to keep working every day at an entry point.
