What to check before you buy

• Capacity — it stores up to 1,500 faces, cards or passwords and 150,000 access records locally. That's plenty for a small business or apartment block, but plan ahead if you expect to outgrow it.
• Installation — it's built for indoor use, mounted on a wall or desktop. It's not rated for outdoor exposure, so an external door needs a sheltered position or a different unit.
• Storage location — because credentials and logs sit on the device itself, day-to-day face matching works even if the network connection drops, which matters on sites with unreliable cabling to a central server.

Straightforward enough for a small business to set up itself, with enough logging depth to satisfy basic audit needs.
