Product Description
A camera that flickers or goes black after dark isn't always faulty. Weak or unstable power is one of the common causes, which is why the supply deserves as much thought as the camera.
The PSU-HM-U1205A CCTV Power Supply delivers 12V DC at 5A, which works out at up to 60W (12 × 5). It's meant for compatible CCTV cameras, LED lighting and other 12V devices, either one at a time or several together, provided their combined load stays within that total.
Will 5A be enough?
Look for the rated current or wattage on each device, add them up and keep the sum under 5A / 60W. As a simple example, four devices rated at 1A each would use 4A of the 5A available.
Night vision needs extra room. Cameras with infrared (IR) LEDs, the small lights that let them see in the dark, draw more power after dark, so work from the higher figure if one is given.
Cable and connector checks
- Cable run: a long or poor-quality cable lets the voltage sag before it reaches the camera. That's called voltage drop, and a flickering or black night-time picture is a typical sign.
- Connector size: the plug must match the socket on your device.
- Polarity: this means which contact is positive and which is negative. It must match your device before you connect anything.
- Voltage: only connect equipment that is designed to run on 12V.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much power can this supply deliver?
It provides 12V DC at 5A, which is up to 60W in total across everything connected to it.
Can I run more than one camera from it?
Yes, as long as the combined draw of all the devices stays within 5A / 60W.
Why does my camera flicker at night on a 12V supply?
Infrared night lighting draws more power, so an under-rated supply or a long cable run can cause voltage drop. Look at the adapter's rated output, and at how long and how good the cable is.
What should I check before plugging a device in?
Make sure the connector size and polarity match the device, and that it runs on 12V.
