Product Description
The MAGNET-BALL-10mm is a 10mm spherical N52-grade neodymium magnet, useful to CCTV installers for temporary mounting, holding cable runs in place, or securing small brackets during a test fit before permanent fixing.
N52 is a strength grade for neodymium (rare earth) magnets — the higher the number, the stronger the magnet for its size, and N52 is towards the top of what's commonly available. Being spherical, this one contacts curved or uneven metal surfaces (like conduit or a camera housing lip) more readily than a flat block magnet would.
Where it fits in a CCTV setup
- Temporary positioning: hold a camera or junction box against a steel surface while you check the mounting angle and cable route, before committing to screws.
- Cable management: pull and hold cable slack against metal trunking or a cabinet during installation.
- Small parts retention: useful for holding screws or brackets in place on a metal panel while working.
Before you buy
This is a small, very strong magnet — keep it away from pacemakers, credit cards, hard drives, and other magnetic media, and away from children. It is not a mounting solution for exposed outdoor cameras on its own; it's best used as a helper during installation or for indoor, low-stress holding tasks.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the MAGNET-BALL-10mm actually made of?
It's a high-grade N52 neodymium (rare earth) magnet, formed as a 10mm sphere.
Can I use this to mount a CCTV camera outdoors long-term?
It's better suited to temporary positioning or indoor holding tasks rather than being the sole fixing for an exposed outdoor camera.
Is the ball shape better than a flat magnet for this kind of job?
Its curved surface makes contact more easily with uneven or curved metal surfaces such as conduit, which a flat block magnet can struggle with.
Does the strength grade N52 mean anything specific?
N52 is a magnetic strength grade for neodymium magnets, and it's towards the top of what's commonly available for a given size.
