The DS-KD8003-IME1 is the main camera module for Hikvision's KD-series modular IP video intercom range — the part that handles video, audio and card-reader duties before you build the rest of the frame around it with keypad, extra reader or display modules.
What it does at the door
It carries a 2MP HD camera with a wide-angle lens, so visitors are clearly identifiable rather than just a blurry face at the edge of frame. A built-in microphone and speaker with echo cancellation give full-duplex conversation between the door and an indoor monitor, without the talk-over you get on cheaper units. IR illumination keeps that image usable after dark.
Access control built in
A Mifare 13.56 MHz RF card reader is integrated into the unit, so residents or staff can tap a contactless card to unlock rather than relying on the intercom call every time.
