Product Description
The Hikvision DS-K2M002X is an expansion module that adds control for two more doors to an existing Hikvision access control system — useful when a site outgrows the door count on its main controller.
How it connects
It talks to the main access controller over an RS-485 interface, which is the standard wired bus used for reliable, longer-distance data links between access control devices in a cabinet or across a building.
Card readers connect either via RS-485 using the OSDP protocol (a more secure, two-way reader protocol) or via Wiegand (the older, widely-used reader interface). That flexibility means you can mix in card readers, keypads or biometric readers depending on what the project already uses — check your chosen reader supports one of these two before ordering.
Installation and power
- DIN rail mounting — it's built to sit inside a control cabinet or panel alongside other system electronics, not as a standalone wall unit.
- Battery charging and discharging management — it can work with a backup battery, so doors stay operational through a mains power cut.
- LED indicators — separate lights for power, communication, running and door status, which speed up fault-finding during install or maintenance.
This is a component for extending an existing Hikvision access control setup, not a standalone controller — confirm compatibility with your main panel before buying.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many doors does the DS-K2M002X add?
It expands an access controller to support up to two additional doors.
How does it connect to the main access controller?
Via an RS-485 interface, which handles reliable data transmission across the access control network.
What card readers can I use with it?
Readers that connect via RS-485 with the OSDP protocol, or readers using the Wiegand interface — check your reader matches one of these.
Can it run during a power cut?
It supports battery charging and discharging management, so it can keep doors operational when connected to a backup battery.
