Product Description
What the DS-3E0109P-E/M does
It's an 9-port PoE switch that lets you power and network up to 8 IP cameras from one box, without separate power adapters for each camera. One extra uplink port carries that traffic back to your NVR or router.
PoE (Power over Ethernet) means the same cable carries both data and power — one cable run to each camera instead of a mains lead plus a network cable.
Where this fits
- Standard installs: each of the 8 ports supports IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at, delivering up to 30 W per port, enough for PTZ cameras or heated housings as well as ordinary fixed cameras.
- Long cable runs: switching on Extend mode pushes PoE transmission out to roughly 300 m per port — well past the usual 100 m Ethernet limit — which suits warehouses, perimeter fencing and outbuildings where the NVR sits far from the cameras.
- Busy PoE loads: intelligent power management monitors total consumption across the 8 ports and adjusts distribution as it nears capacity, which helps avoid one camera starving another of power.
Before you buy, check
- Your cameras are 10/100 Mbps (Fast Ethernet) — this switch isn't gigabit, so it suits standard-resolution CCTV rather than high-bitrate multi-megapixel streams needing faster throughput.
- Total power draw across your cameras against the switch's PoE budget, especially if using Extend mode over long runs.
The metal, fan-free case runs silently and is built for desktop siting or wall mounting in a cabinet, control room or back-office space, with 6 kV surge protection built in.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many cameras can I connect to the DS-3E0109P-E/M?
Up to 8 PoE-powered IP cameras, each on its own 10/100 Mbps port, with the 9th port used as uplink back to your NVR or network.
What's the maximum cable distance for each camera?
Up to approximately 300 metres per port when Extend mode is enabled, well beyond the standard 100m Ethernet limit.
Does this switch work with non-Hikvision cameras?
It supports the IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at PoE standards, so any camera or PoE device built to those standards should work, regardless of brand.
Is this switch managed or unmanaged?
It's an unmanaged switch — plug-and-play with no configuration interface, which keeps setup simple for straightforward CCTV installs.
