Product Description
If your CCTV picture has rolling bars or wavy horizontal lines, a ground loop is one possible cause. It happens when the camera and the recorder are earthed at slightly different points, so stray current finds its way along the video cable. The BNC-ISOLATOR-GB001 CCTV Ground Loop Isolator is a small in-line unit that breaks that electrical connection while the video signal carries on through.
Before you buy
- Connectors: it fits between camera and recorder using BNC connectors (the twist-lock plugs common on analogue CCTV).
- Cable: input and output are both 75 Ohm coaxial.
- Symptoms: lines or distortion are what this addresses. If the picture only flickers or goes black at night, check the camera's power supply and cable length first, because voltage drop on a long run is a common culprit.
Specs
- Insertion loss: 0.5dB
- Frequency response: 20Hz - 10MHz (0~3dB)
- Ground isolation: more than 90dB at 50Hz
- Isolation voltage: DC 600V (min)
- Insulation resistance: 100M Ohm
- Transient voltage suppressors: 12 Vrms
- Dimensions: 68 x 28 x 21mm with 24cm
- Material: plastic and metal, black
Insertion loss is the small amount of signal lost passing through the unit. At 0.5dB, that is a modest figure for something that sits in the video line.
It suits both DIY and professional installs, and it can be added to a system that is already running.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the ground loop isolator go in a CCTV system?
Place it in the video line, with the camera on one side and the recorder on the other, joined by BNC connectors.
What impedance does it work with?
Both the coaxial input and the output are rated at 75 Ohm.
What kind of picture problem does it help with?
It is designed to reduce video interference caused by ground loops, such as distorted images and rolling lines.
