This module adds audio to a CCTV system that currently only records picture. It works by pairing a sensitive electret microphone with a built-in amplifier, then sending the signal out as a standard analogue RCA audio feed.
Will it work with your recorder?
Only if your DVR or NVR has a dedicated RCA audio input channel — many budget analogue recorders don't. Check your recorder's rear panel or manual for an audio-in socket before buying; without one, this module has nothing to plug into.
Power and placement
- Runs on 12V DC via a 2.1mm jack, the same connector standard used by most CCTV camera power supplies, so it can often share an existing supply.
- Small enough to fit inside a junction box, camera housing, or equipment cabinet — no need for a separate visible unit.

Entrances, till points, offices and warehouse floors — anywhere you want ambient sound logged alongside the video. Because the amplifier boosts sensitivity, it picks up sound across a wider area than a basic passive mic would.
One practical note: mount it away from fans, air conditioning units or anything that vibrates, as that noise gets amplified along with everything else.
