Product Description
What it is: a small in-line audio module that lets a CCTV system capture sound, not just picture. It takes a microphone signal, boosts it (high-gain) and balances it for the recorder, then sends it out over a standard RCA connector.
Why bother with audio on CCTV
Video alone often misses context — a raised voice, breaking glass, a car door. Adding a microphone module gives your recording a soundtrack to go with the picture, useful for reception desks, tills, gates or anywhere a conversation matters as much as the footage.
Connections and power
- RCA audio output — feeds any DVR/NVR or amplifier input that accepts a line-level RCA source. Check your recorder actually has a free audio-in channel before ordering; not every DVR does.
- 2.1mm DC jack — needs its own power feed. Plan for a nearby socket, or share a PSU with the camera it's mounted alongside.
- Indoor and outdoor rated, so it can sit inside on a reception wall or outside near an external camera run.
Fitting it in
Being compact, it mounts discreetly close to the camera itself or partway along the cable run — wherever is tidiest. It's an in-line device: it doesn't record or store anything itself, it just prepares the microphone's signal so your existing DVR/NVR can capture clean audio alongside the video.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this work with my existing DVR or NVR?
It outputs standard line-level RCA audio, so it will feed any DVR, NVR or amplifier that has a free audio input — check your recorder has a spare audio channel before buying.
Does it record audio itself?
No, it's an in-line module that amplifies and balances the microphone signal; your DVR or NVR does the actual recording.
Can it be fitted outside?
Yes, it's rated for both indoor and outdoor use, so it can be mounted on an external wall near a camera run as well as indoors.
How is it powered?
Via a 2.1mm DC jack, so you'll need a nearby power point or a shared power supply with the camera it's installed alongside.
