Check the spec sheet for the exact station and recorder before you quote it — this is a model-by-model question, not a range-wide one. The structural difference is topology: an IP door station sits on the same Cat5e/Cat6 network as an IP camera system, while a 2-wire kit is a closed pair between the station and the monitor and shares nothing with a recorder.

Do I need a separate lock, or does the kit release the door?
